Dedicated to wine making since 19th century, Maria Virginia Costa de Almeida`s family (MVCA) marks its presence along the southern of bank Douro Superior region.
Dona Cremilde has it origin in Sao Xisto Vineyards located nearby Ferradosa train station in Douro railway Line and results from a special combination of grape varieties, selected by our viticulture, winemaker and family team. Enjoy.
Winemaking: Grapes are harvested into 20 kg boxes and received at the Winery (Alta Pontuação). Manual sorting and stalk-removal is followed by traditional treading in a granite mill, with maceration and alcoholic fermentation taking place between granite mills and the stainless steel vats.
Maturation: After fermentation under temperature control, maturation took place over 12 months, in a blend of stainless steel vats and French oak barrels
Keep: After being bottled, it must age for 2 months to be fully enjoyed but wil age beautifully for years to come, keeping all its characteristics intact for at least 10 years.
Drinking: We recommend serving at 16°-18° with more intense dishes, meats and cheeses
